Most people know that ozone shock treatments are used by most mold and smoke remediation companies to completely get rid of smoke and mold issues. This is accomplished by creating ultra high concentrations of ozone in unoccupied areas. PROS: Cheap. Our 3600 milligram per hour ozone generator for example is only $249 and comes with a 5 year warranty. Not only will it fix your problem, it can easily pay for itself if you rent it to others with similar problems in your area. (Check and you'll find ozone generators rent for as much as $100 locally.) CONS: Ozone is harmful to breath. Ozone can damage rubber and soft plastics. In occupied areas we recommend the Airpura T600 to remove second hand smoke from the air. It contains 26 lbs of carbon. You could benefit by running an ozone generator while someone smokes as well to prevent any smoke damage to fabrics and surfaces. VOC AND CHEMICAL SOLUTIONS

If you don't have a forced air system or you want to get rid of VOC's and Chemicals, you need an air purifier with at least 15 lbs of carbon. We highly recommend the Airpura line of air purifiers (high end) to deal with VOC's and chemicals because they feature 18 to 28 lbs of carbon-zeolite to effectively remove VOC's and chemicals from the air. A more economical choice (not as much carbon) is the Austin Air and Amaricare brands. These are a better choice if you don't have a serious VOC or chemical issue or for bedrooms. We only recommend these three brands of room air purifiers because they offer low cost replacement filters (Less than $80 a year to operate vs. $400 for other popular models) and they create enough air movement (400 CFM fans) to deal with VOC and chemical issues. Ozone shock treatments will also oxidize VOC's and Chemicals, but you can't use it in occupied areas, and that's a problem. We strongly recommend against all plastic table top air purifiers! They are not strong enough to create any significant air flow and will continue to filter air near the unit over and over again. In other words, they're a waste of money.
